The Australian Cattle Vets (ACV), with the assistance of BCF Ultrasound Australasia ran the third highly successful ultrasound reproduction workshop weekend in Warrnambool Victoria on the 28th and 29th of November with proceeds from the weekend being donated to Lauren Blacklock. Lauren was an attendee at the first weekend run and suffered an unfortunate injury November in 2014 while attempting to rescue a horse. ACV organised a benefit auction at the 2015 ACV conference in Hobart and the tutors agreed to run a workshop with proceeds to be donated to Lauren Blacklock Rehabilitation Benefit Auction.
The weekend was organised by Dr Jon Kelly and Dr Andrew Hoare with the theory sessions being held at Warrnambool Veterinary Clinic each morning, a demonstration on-farm and then a three hour practical session conducted on 4 dairy farms. The farms are clients of the Warrnambool Veterinary Clinic and had cows in the best stages of pregnancy for teaching ageing using ultrasound and fetal sexing. Dr Matt Izzo, Dr Matt Dwyer, Dr Jon Kelly and Dr Andrew Hoare were involved as tutors for the weekend and presenters during the theory session. Ultrasound equipment was supplied by the tutors and BCF Ultrasound Australasia, with Chris Graham being on hand to help out with technical advice and plenty of tips and tricks to get the most out of your equipment.
Attendees came from as far away North Queensland, Southern Queensland, New South Wales, East Gippsland, Western Victoria and South Australia.
